The USI AMIB3051SC 2-in-1 Sensing Plus® Smoke and Fire Alarm provides 10 years of continuous protection against deadly threats in the home. New Sensing Plus® Multi-Criteria Detection provides the benefits of both photoelectric and ionization detectors in one device to protect against fast flaming and slow smoldering fires. Perfect for new or replacement installations, this maintenance-free alarm is suitable for houses, apartments and mobile homes. The sealed battery (included) will never have to be replaced throughout the life of the smoke detector, giving you a decade's worth in peace of mind even in the event of a power outage.
10 Year Permanent Power also saves money from battery replacements (up to $38.00 over the 10-year life of the alarm), eliminates annoying low battery chirps and helps the environment by reducing environmental waste from disposed batteries. This USI smoke and fire detector features microprocessor intelligence that assists in completely eliminating nuisance alarms, a single silence/test button to quiet a non-hazardous alarm and an end-of-service life warning that sounds when it's time to replace the smoke detector's battery (approximately 10-years from activation).

I couldn't find a combination smoke and flame alarm at the hardware stores near me, so this bedroom specific alarm was a perfect find. Previously we only had an alarm in the hallway, so now having alarms in all three bedrooms has given me major peace of mind, in case a fire originated in the bedroom and the door was closed. They were easy to install as well.

July 21, 2022Future-proof fire safety for our bedrooms
We had a minor scare when a defective CFL bulb in our bedroom failed and began to smoke, setting off our bedroom smoke alarm. We had not yet installed smoke alarms in our other bedrooms, plus our alarm was nearing its end of life, so I took this opportunity to research smoke alarms and see what was available. It turns out that UL is updating their smoke alarm standards UL217 to an 8th edition. This will require better sensing technology to reduce nuisance alarms as well as to better detect polyurethane foam fires. Only a few alarms sold today meet this standard, this one from USI being one of them. Having a 10 year battery in it is also a big plus, doing away with yearly battery changes. These were easy to install I made sure to keep at least three feet away from the ceiling fan blades. Now our bedrooms are protected for the next 10 years.

Fast delivery and easy to install. I replaced my 14 year old hard wired alarms and was able to use the same mounting bracket. I will let you know in 1-0 years if the batteries last that long---
