No false hits yet. Although the light probably isnt strong enough to be of real use in a fire, its useful in quickly determining *which* alarm is sounding. I will continue to buy more of these.

I like the photoelectric sensor alarms. Ive had several of these alarms in place for a few weeks and I havent had a false alarm yet. I went with this specific model for the light. The light is OK, but I question how useful it would be in a real fire as it isnt super bright what can you expect from a 9v battery? Thats OK, though, as I like the light feature mainly as a way to determine which of my alarms is sounding.
