The First Alert 2013F Fire and Waterproof Safe is perfect for storing your valuable documents or personal credentials. This UL classified First Alert media protection chest has been tested to withstand an external temperature of up to 1550° for 1/2 hour. It has also been independently verified to protect electronic media, such as memory sticks, CD's, DVD's and external hard drives. The First Alert Fire and Water Protect Chest includes a waterproof seal that will protect locked contents in the event of flood damage.
Independently Tested for Durability
Designed to withstand external temperatures of up to 1550° Fahrenheit for up to 30 minutes, this security safe has been independently verified to protect digital media such as memory sticks, CDs, DVDs, and external hard drives. The document safe helps keep your important documents, jewelry, money, and other small items safe from fire damage. The safe also features a waterproof seal which protects your valuables if the case happened to be sprayed or even submerged in water.

Clamping-Style Lock Secures Your Valuables
The fire-safe box is equipped with a key lock and a clamping-style latch to protect its contents from theft. It includes two keys, so you have a backup in case one is misplaced.
- Engraved on the key itself.
- Engraved on the lock cylinder.
- Engraved underneath the black plastic cap that says digital electronic safes.
- The silver sticker on the bottom right hand corner of the Anti-Theft Safes.
- On the key cover.
- Check the engraved key number and verify it matches the engraved letter on the key cylinder.
- Spray WD-40 oil in the lock.
- Tap it lightly with a hammer.

This safe is a great value. Although not big enough to store 8.5x11 paper flat, for max protection from moisture you should put your documents in sealable plastic bags anyway, which will add to their size - so might as well fold them in half and get this safe. It's the lightest at 15 pounds, so not a pain to air out regularly, just keep it out in your office or bedroom it's really not a safe to protect from theft, so no reason not to. First Alert customer service is excellent by phone. Call them when you need new silica gel to keep the inside dry and they'll send it out free.

The chest looks as pictured, solid and sturdy. The shipping fee for the chest was too high, though.
